We're a B Corp!

Becoming a B Corp means we've independently assessed how we operate. From the fruit we rescue to the bottles we use, the people we work with and the impact we have on our community.

A standard, not a slogan

Why did Penrhos become a B Corp?

A standard, not a slogan

B Corp is a certification for businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental performance.

In simple terms, it means looking at how a business treats its people, its community and the planet as well as how it makes money.

We're proud to have been independently assessed and certified as a B Corp.

Our B Impact Score

Our B Impact Score

The median score for ordinary businesses completing the B Impact Assessment is 50.9.

Our score of 86.8 reflects the work we’re already doing across Penrhos from rescuing perfectly good fruit that would otherwise go to waste, to rethinking our packaging.

We’re proud of our score, but there is always more we can do and B Corp gives us a framework to keep improving.

The things we already do

Wonky Fruit

We make gin made from 'wonky' fruit that may otherwise go to waste

The Forever Bottle

Moving from glass to the first 100% recycled aluminium bottle which cut our carbon footprint by 91%

Two Farming Families

Working together on Penrhos Farm, distilling in small batches in our copper still, Connie.

The bits we're still working on

what's next

The bits we're still working on

In 2017, Charlie was faced with throwing away perfectly good fruit.

Penrhos Spirits was born instead.

In 2023, after over a year of searching, we became the first distillery to move from glass to 100% recycled aluminium so become B Corp felt like the next step.

We haven't just said that we care about reducing food waste, supporting farming and looking after the planet. We've been independently assessed on how we run our business and held accountable for our impact.

And importantly, B Corp doesn't mean our business is perfect. It means we have made a commitment to do better, measure its impact and keep improving.

What the assessment measures

Governance

How we're owned, run and held to account.

Workers

How we look after the people who make the gin.

Community

Our suppliers, our neighbours, our corner of Herefordshire.

Environment

The farm, the fruit and the bottle.

Customers

How we respect and care for you

Join our journey

Every bottle you buy rescues fruit that would otherwise have gone to waste. That's the whole point and it's still the bit we're proudest of.
