Being farmers we care for our environment. We started Penrhos Spirits not because we thought the world needed another gin brand, but because we wanted better for our imperfectly perfect fruit.

Perfectly good fruit should never go to waste

Why Penrhos was started

Perfectly good fruit should never go to waste

In 2017, Charlie was faced with the devastating reality of having to throw perfectly good fruit away simply because it wasn’t considered “perfect” enough.

From that moment, he decided it should never happen again. Instead of letting beautiful fruit go to waste, he found a new purpose for it and Penrhos Spirits was born.

Our wonky blueberries now play an important role and you will find them all in Penrhos gins.

Why We Save Imperfect Fruit

Why We Save Imperfect Fruit

In the UK, millions of tonnes of perfectly good fruit go to waste each year - simply because they don't meet the cosmetic standards.

We don’t discriminate at Penrhos, you can’t be too wonky for us… In fact the more imperfect you are, the more perfect you are for our gin! But we never compromise on flavour.

How We Distil Our Spirits

The Craft

How We Distil Our Spirits

Our spirits are distilled in small batches using our traditional copper pot still, Connie. She’s named after Dickie’s grandmother, who used the very same barn to rear calves many years ago, long before it became home to our distillery.

Today, Connie helps us turn wonky fruit and carefully selected botanicals into the spirits we’re proud to share

The distillation process is slow and deliberate - we take our time to ensure only the very best of the spirit, known as the heart, makes it into your bottle.

Why it tastes so good

We don’t add any more alcohol to stretch the number of bottles from each run. Whilst not the most economical way of producing gin it enables us to keep all the best flavours a craft gin should possess.

Our secret weapon is our wonky blueberries, they help us to make very smooth gin.

Don't just take our word for it!
